Prayer: Thank you, O God, for the wonders and the wisdom in your Word, in Christ. Amen.
God’s basic diet
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
When our devotion writer was a boy he ate so much candy that he felt sick. His mother suggested drinking a lot of water and it worked.
He asks us today; “How often do we fail to eat that which is good?” A basic healthy diet has not changed much in my lifetime, but the diet fads and the junk foods sure have. It is similar with the kingdom of God and God’s goodness.
We are called and we know from God’s Word what is good, so why do we get caught looking at those things which are not good for us. When we thirst or have needs we know where to go. Our devotion writer says; “God provides priceless sustenance, free of charge.” We are called to the waters where nourishment is available for our souls.
“Isaiah’s words of prophecy summarize the basics of our relationship with God. When we trust in this advice we’ll ‘delight ourselves in rich food—nutritious fruits of faith==from our Lord.”
Prayer: “Lord of the harvest, we thank you for nutritious food. Help us to serve and advocate for those who are hungry today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

An Invitation to Abundant Life
55 Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. 4 See, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. 5 See, you shall call nations that you do not know, and nations that do not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.
